As a counsellor and psychotherapist, and former teacher of meditation and mindfulness, my approach to therapy is grounded in creating a safe space. Such a space is fostered through offering you a calm, non-judgmental and respectful presence. I accompany you as we explore together your inner needs and resources, where you feel ‘stuck’ and what will promote your flourishing.
I assist people challenged by:
- general anxiety and depression
- perinatal anxiety and depression
- transition to parenthood
- issues with stress
- problems with anger
- low self-esteem
- life transitions
- finding purpose and meaning
- loss and grief
- relationship difficulties.
In counselling I use an integrative approach that draws on person-centred, psychodynamic and humanistic-existential theories, tailored to what suits each individual client. My role is to facilitate clarity in order for you to explore your choices in life.
Depending on individual needs I will include:
- focusing therapy
- emotion-focused therapy
- mindfulness techniques
- acceptance commitment therapy
These terms describe established therapeutic techniques which we can discuss if you are keen to know more.
In the past, I have been involved in Christian and Buddhist spiritual traditions, attending many contemplative retreats. Whilst adhering to no particular religious beliefs, I bring this sensibility to my work for those who wish to explore their spirituality, as part of the therapeutic path.
